How did LUNC's supply reach trillions of tokens؟
During the UST de-peg in May 2022, the Terra protocol allowed holders to burn UST to mint LUNA at the $1 nominal rate. As UST's actual market price fell below $1, the protocol was effectively issuing LUNA at a large premium to its market value. This created an arbitrage that automated bots exploited at massive scale, minting vast quantities of new LUNA in seconds. Within days, the LUNA supply expanded من roughly 350 million tokens to over 6 trillion, destroying the token's value through hyperinflationary dilution.

The Terra Classic community implemented a 1.2% on-chain transaction tax through governance.
