Mina uses recursive zk-SNARKs, a cryptographic technique where a proof can verify another proof. Instead of storing every transaction, Mina nodes maintain a single succinct proof that the entire chain history is valid. Each new block adds a proof that verifies all previous proofs plus the new block’s transactions, producing a constant-size output.
