LayerZero was developed by LayerZero Labs and launched in 2022 with a novel architecture that separates the Oracle and Relayer roles in cross-chain messaging, allowing each application to configure its own combination of verifiers for each message path. The protocol connects over 70 blockchains and has processed billions of cross-chain messages for applications including Stargate Finance, Radiant Capital, and hundreds of others. LayerZero V2 introduced the decentralized verifier network (DVN), replacing the previous Oracle/Relayer model with a السوق of competing security providers that applications can mix and match. Wormhole uses a fixed set of 19 named Guardian validators who collectively attest all cross-chain messages. The security model is transparent وconsistent but relies on the specific Guardian set.
