Important: read before holding into a holiday

Don't hold positions into a pricing-off window without a plan

When an instrument shows Pricing off, MT5 stops sending quotes for it. Stops and take-profits don't fire. You can't open, close, or modify the position. When pricing comes back, the price can be a long way from where it left off. Spreads also widen in the last few minutes before any early close, so give your stop room and make sure free margin can absorb a gap on reopen.

Frequently asked

Is the forex market open right now?

The status pill at the top of this page shows the live state: FX open if the server clock is between Monday 00:00 and Friday 23:59, FX closed on weekends. If the pill says closed, the line beside it tells you the exact server-time moment trading reopens. Major holidays (Christmas, New Year, Good Friday and regional bank holidays) can shut FX briefly even on weekdays, so check the matrix below if you're trading near one. Cryptocurrency CFDs trade 24/7, including weekends, so even when forex is closed, BTCUSD, ETHUSD and the rest are still active.

When do the New York, London, Tokyo, and Sydney sessions open in server time?

In summer (UTC+3 server, the current schedule): Sydney opens 01:00 server, Tokyo 03:00, London 11:00, New York 16:00. In winter (UTC+2 server): Sydney 00:00, Tokyo 02:00, London 10:00, New York 15:00. The London / New York overlap (16:00 to 20:00 server in summer, 15:00 to 19:00 in winter) is the highest-volume window for FX majors. These anchors hold most of the year, with short windows around DST transitions in mid-March, late October and early November where the offsets drift by an hour because the regions roll over at different times.

What is the StoicFX MT5 server time, and why is everything shown in server time?

The MT5 server runs on European time and follows European daylight saving. It is currently UTC+3 (summer time, last Sunday of March to last Sunday of October), then switches to UTC+2 the rest of the year. The page lists every cutoff in the schedule's published server time so it matches what you see on your terminal. Daily candles close at 00:00 server time. The toggle on the clock above swaps the page into your local time if you prefer.

What does "pricing off" mean for my orders?

MT5 isn't quoting the instrument. Open positions stay on the books, but you can't open, close, or modify anything. Stops, take-profits, and pending orders won't trigger because there's no price to trigger against. They sit dormant until pricing resumes, at which point pending orders are evaluated against the new price, which may be far from where you set them if there was a gap.

What happens to my open positions during an early close or holiday window?

They stay open. Early close just means trading halts at the listed time, not that anything gets liquidated. After the cutoff you can't place new orders, and SL/TP orders won't fire until the next session opens. Two things to watch when holding through any holiday window: gap risk on reopen (especially indices and stocks), and wider spreads on either side of the cutoff.

When is the forex market actually open?

Forex trades continuously from Sunday evening to Friday evening, about 24 hours a day, five days a week. Anchored to 5pm New York time, the open lands at Monday 00:00 server time and the close lands at Friday 23:59 server time. The market closes on weekends because the global settlement system and bank trading desks don't operate Saturday and Sunday. Crypto CFDs are the exception. They trade 24/7 because crypto markets never close.

Are spreads wider during holidays?

Usually yes, especially in the last hour before an early close and the first hour after a late open. Liquidity is thinner because fewer banks and venues are quoting. Tighten position size and widen stops accordingly.

Do swap charges apply on holidays?

Swap accrues every trading day, but the triple-swap day is not the same for every asset class. FX, metals and natural gas charge three days of swap on Wednesday. Indices, oil and US stocks charge it on Friday. Cryptocurrency CFDs charge swap every day, including weekends. Holidays themselves don't change that calendar.

Is gold (XAUUSD) traded on US holidays?

Reduced hours that follow COMEX. On Mon 25 May 2026 metals trade normally until an early close at 21:30 UTC+3. The rest of the May schedule has metals on normal hours.

Why are so many markets affected on Monday 25 May?

Multiple market holidays land on the same Monday. The US has Memorial Day (US stock CFDs go pricing off; US indices, metals, and energies follow shortened CME and ICE sessions). The UK has the Spring Bank Holiday (early closes on European indices). Hong Kong observes Buddha's Birthday (HK30 pricing off). Japan's exchanges run reduced hours (NIK225 early close at 20:00 UTC+3). Forex and crypto run normally.

Are forex and cryptocurrencies affected?

No. FX runs normal 24/5 hours all month, and crypto CFDs run 24/7 throughout. The changes only affect indices, metals (one date), energies (one date), and US stocks (one date).

Where can I find the schedule for other months?

This page updates each month with the next bank-holiday window once it's been confirmed against the relevant venue calendars. Past schedules are kept in the archive below for reference. We don't pre-share future months until they're published here.
